To Get the Honest Answer
You try on dozens of different outfits for the office, everyday life, night out etcetera. Eventually you decide on a specific outfit. But you are not quite sure whether the outfit really suits you. You want to get a completely honest and constructive advice and in this case you do not really trust your friend, spouse or personal shopper. So how do you get the truthful answer? You simply upload a photo of your outfit on websites like
Go Try It On and
Fashism. Users then rate your outfit by clicking for example “I like it” or “I hate it”. Marissa Evans, who started Go Try It On said; “It’s for people who want a quick second honest opinion.”
Evans has employees that ensure civility, to guarantee Go Try It On is a site that is helpful and not hurtful. The website went live in March and now has about 5000 registered free users. Fashism had its debut last September and since then it has had about 3000 registered users and 100 000 visitors. Brooke Moreland who started Fashism said, “I’m not professing to be a fashion expert and neither are most people who use it.”
When making a comment on an outfit uploaded on Fashism, the users may get points, which they later can use for discounts at different selected online retailers. So far, the sites do not make any money or have any advertisers, but in the soon future they will hopefully have investors and corporate sponsors. Right now, both sites are developing iPhone apps so the users can upload their outfits in the quickest and easiest way possible.
