Boozt joins the Sustainable Apparel Coalition to accelerate supply chain transparency in the fashion industry
Boozt joins the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) to drive progress towards global standards for sustainability within the fashion industry. As members, Boozt will commit to measuring and improving social and environmental impacts across the value chain. Using the Higg Brand & Retail Module (Higg BRM) brand partners will be required to provide supply chain data that will be used to assess sustainability performance and progress. As the leading multi-brand retailer in the Nordics, Boozt can positively impact the fashion industry by driving transparency through the value chain and product lifecycle at scale.
“We look forward to partnering with a global network of peers that, just like us, want to find more sustainable solutions for the industry. Having access to standardized tools to measure environmental and social impact will help us continuously set high standards for our business and the industry. That is also why, by 2023, we will only work with brands that are committed to providing comparable supply chain data through our sustainability assessments.” - Hermann Haraldsson, CEO
Collaboration across the value chain is key to achieving industry-wide change. The SAC is the fashion industry’s leading sustainability alliance committed to full environmental and social transparency. Boozt will join the more than 250 global brands, retailers, and manufacturers, as well as government, non-profit environmental organisations, and academic institutions, which are collectively committed to improving supply chain sustainability in the apparel, footwear, and textile industry. The Coalition, together with Higg Co., developed the Higg Index, a suite of five sustainability tools that provide a standardized method to accurately measure and score a company or product’s social and environmental performance across the value chain.
“Core to our sustainability strategy is our aim to make sustainable choices easier - for our customers and our partners. As consumer behaviour changes and the demand for more responsibly-made products increases, so does the need for relevant and credible supply chain data. With the added transparency from the Higg BRM we can better identify improvement areas and help our brands move forward in their sustainability journey while also providing our customers with detailed and data-based information about a product’s sustainability performance” - Gloria Tramontana, Sustainability Manager
About the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC)
The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) is an industry-wide group of more than 250 leading apparel, footwear and textile, brands, retailers, suppliers, service providers, trade associations, nonprofits, NGOs and academic institutions working to promote social justice throughout the global value chain and reduce the environmental impacts of products. Through multi-stakeholder engagement, the SAC seeks to lead the industry toward a shared vision of sustainability built upon a common approach for measuring and evaluating apparel, footwear and textile sustainability performance that spotlights priorities for action and opportunities for technological innovation. The SAC was incorporated as a 501(c)6 nonprofit organization and launched the groundbreaking Higg Index suite of tools in 2011. In May 2019, the SAC spun-off the Higg Index technology platform to the newly formed Higg Co. For more information, visit www.apparelcoalition.org.
